Online bank job fraud busted: 3 from UP held – Times of India

BHOPAL: Cyber crime branch unit of Bhopal on Tuesday claimed to have busted a threemember gang of fraudsters operating from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh by offering jobs in two India’s leading banks.
The fake call centre was operating from Mainpuri for the past one year and the gang conned around 100 people to the tune of Rs 50 lakh from around the country, including MP. Police said that complainant Asma, a resident of Koh-e-fiza locality, had submitted a written application to cyber crime police wherein she alleged that an unidentified accused duped her to the tune of Rs 45,500 on the pretext of providing a job at a private bank.
Police said that after verifying the charges, a case was registered against an unidentified accused under sections 419 (Punishment for cheating) and 420 (Cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) of IPC and Rs 32,500 was frozen through technical analysis immediately after registering FIR. Police said that the arrested accused have been identified as Aditya Yadav, 22, Manish Chouhan, 21, and Bhupendra Rathore, 23, residents of Manipuri City of UP. The modus operandi of the accused was that they used to purchase users data from online marketplace & classified advertising platforms. After getting data, they would contact people around the country on their mobile phone and introduce themselves as bank officers. The accused lure people by offering a job on the post of data entry or another profile and asking them to send complete information on their WhatsApp. After the selection process, they collected a huge amount in their digital wallets platform and their bank accounts on the pretext of registration fees and security charges.
